As you know, the Sumatra forest fires have created serious discomfort and problems to us, Singaporeans. Not only are there increased risks of eye infections, breathing difficulties and respiratory attacks, there are many other harmful effects that will eventually ruin our economic prosperity. It's so bad that people are praying for the Big Fan present in Plants VS. Zombies to blow all the haze away.
1. Tourists will flee as they will never be able to capture good photos. If tourists board the Singapore flyer, expecting to take some good pictures of Singapore's skyline, they'll be very much disappointed. All they can see is a mirage of a pure greying sky in front of them. It's almost like the sight of a person who is trapped in a building full of fumes and smoke.
2. Common practices will be very much affected. Morning pledge-taking and flag raising will be very much blurred by the haze. Not only will people further back from the flagpoles be unable to even catch a glimpse of the rising flag, they will choke on the first note of the National Anthem. So it's like "Mari Ki*Kekekeke*". The whole school does the same thing and foreigners make mistake that to be our new anthem. kidding.
3. Sports Games. S'league is a widely watched sport ONLY in singapore. Actually it's not even widely watched, but it's the only sport that is broadcasted on TV. With the camera already that far from the pitch, the grey haze will basically fuse with the green-colored pitch to form some weird colour combination. The players on the other hand would seem to be running on some funny surface rather than grass.
If the Commonwealth Games was to be held in Singapore at this period, it would be even worse! The stadium is twice as big and so the camera is even further away from the centrestage. So guess what...
4. I pity the construction workers. The haze is already so intense that no one can even be lucky enough to breathe a bit of fresh air. What worsens this condition is the falling debris and dust they face everyday. Not only are they going to experience aggravated medical conditions of zits and rashes, a chronic bronchitis may even break out from that human!
5. People who are going to camp. Secondary 2s, you're going to OBS right? Well good luck, cos' you're going to the open sea for both the boat ride and the kayaking, which is faced with even worse haze due to the open area. Just if you need to, capsize your boat and breathe like a fish in the fresh salty oxygenated water instead.
6. Peoples' houses. By that, I would refer to a ghost town. Ever heard of volcano ash and dust that blanketed the entire town into grey dull colours that make people puke? This could very well happen to Singapore as well. The haze particles are going to stick to our house roofs, walls, doors and windows, making them totally opaque and taking away the light away from us.
7. A tsunami will come sweep the lands of Singapore, killing NO ONE but burying all the haze ashes and dirt or washing them back to the seawaters.
That's the end of my ridiculous rant. For now, check out my piano playing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=moHBhFoXtDo
